We know bereavements can be a very difficult time, and if you are affected, we are sorry for your loss. At QIB (UK) we want to ensure dealing with this is straightforward, so please get in touch with us for help and support.
You only need you to tell us once that someone has passed away. We will be able to find all of their account details they held with us.
Once you have told us about the person’s death, we’ll stop any further communication with the account holder. If any communication had been sent prior to notification, we are sorry for any distress this may have caused.
What to do
When someone passes away, important decisions can sometimes feel overwhelming. Here are some initial steps to take:
- Register the death
- Organise the funeral
- Find the Will
- Decide who will deal with the estate
In the UK, the death needs to be registered at a register office within 5 days (eight days in Scotland).
Telling us about a bereavement
Anyone can tell us about a bereavement, but we can only discuss account information with the following people:
- The next of kin, e.g. a parent or a family member
- An executor of the Will
- A personal representative if there is no Will
- A legal representative
Your proof of identity will be required, which must show your full name and current address.
What will we need from you
- Proof of death – either the original death certificate or a certified copy.
- Proof of identification (ID) – of those dealing with the estate (Passport or Driving Licence)
You can bring the documents in Person, via email or post them to us and we will do the necessary
